Kanhaiya Kumar is a leader of the All India Student Federation (AISF) from Begusarai, Bihar, India, and the student wing of the Communist party of India (CPI). He was also as the elected president of the JNU Student’s Union in 2015. He got arrested in February 2016 and was charged with sedition along with Umar Khalid reason being raising anti India slogans in a student rally held in 2013 hanging of Mohammed Afzal Guru who was a Kashmiri separatist convicted over 2001 Indian Parliament attack which were later found to be wrong and false as the video was found tampered.

He walked out of prison on March 3rd and returned to the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University. His speech at the campus soon got viral not just in India but across the world on Twitter. Kanhaiya was also attacked in Delhi during a hearing at court but finally he released on March 3, 2016.

KANHAIYA KUMAR’S SPEECH

In his speech, he spoke of wanting azaadi of freedom “in” and not “from” India. His speech was telecasted on almost all the news channels, found on the first page of newspaper and nearly 3,000 university students heard his speech. He spoke about the farmers who commit suicide and the action which government shows after it and apathy towards them.

  2. The ABVP in our campus is more rational as compared to ABVP outside our campus.
  3. We Indians forget easily but we still remember all the ‘Jumla’ used during election campaign.
  4. If you speak against the government then their cyber cells will send your doctored videos.
