Are you afraid of buying Apple’s new 12-inch MacBook because of the concerns that Intel’s Core M processor will slow down your computing, then throw those fears out. As the recent leak reveals the secret that Intel’s Skylake architecture will be used in next MacBook model, that will take your experience of computing on Apple to a higher notch.

The leaked Intel’s slides reveal that the fanless architecture of Y series Skylake chip used on MacBook will improve the CPU performance by 17% and GPU performance will be 41% faster. Also the Gen9 Graphics of Skylake processor can drive up to three 4K displays at 60 frames per second.

For targeting different price points Apple may use different versions of Skylake based Core M processor. Like in the past Apple used Core I processors in MacBook Air and Pro series.

WHAT IS NEW?

The base MacBook is expected to come with the Intel Core M3 processor. The Core M3 6Y30 CPU will be dual core, with the clock speed of 900MHz that can go up to turbo boost of 2.2GHz. The chip is integrated with HD 515 graphics and will come with the 4MB cache memory.

It is believed that there will be two mid-tier MacBook models with Intel Core M5 processors.

One will be low configured (6Y57), that will be clocked at 1.1GHz with turbo boost up to 2.7GHz. And the model with higher configuration will go up to the 2.8GHz turbo boost. Both the models will be integrated with HD 515 Graphics. According to MacRumors, it is expected that the higher end configuration will be priced at $1,599.

IMPROVED GRAPHICS

With the ultimate boost in performance, the most awe-inspiring improvement that Skylake dish out over Broadwell is Graphics execution. Enriched integrated graphics will allow MacBook users to play more graphics-accelerated games and run 3D modelling software and do much more.

The new chip will deliver up to 1.4 hours extra battery life. Currently apple rates the MacBook at 9 hours of battery life. The powerful Skylake could boost the battery life to more than 10 hours.
