The hijacker of EgyptAir plane has been arrested in Cyprus, where he was forcing the plane to land. The EgyptAir plane was carrying 55 passengers from Borg El Arab airport in Alexandria to Cairo which after hijack was diverted to Larnaca in Cyprus. Many of the passengers were released by following the hijacker on flight MS181, who has not been named yet. Seven people remained on board until 11:30 a.m., which were four crew members and three passengers.
Sharif Fathy, minister of Egyptian’s aviation said during a conference that the hijacker said that he was wearing a suicide belt. It was not sure that the belt was real. Nationality would not be confirmed.
The name of the terrorist which was tweeted by the Cyprus Foreign Ministry is Seif Eldin Mustafa, but not yet confirmed.
The EgyptAir plane left for Alexandria at 6:36 a.m. and the expected time to land Cairo was at 7:15 a.m.
Dr. Ibrahim Samaha, who was an Egyptian University professor, was by mistake taken as the hijacker by the media reports. He was on board during the flight got hijacked and spoke to BBC Arabic sharing his experience.
“We did not know what was going on. We got aboard the plane and we were surprised that the crew took all our passports, which is unusual for a domestic flight. After a while we realized that the altitude is getting higher. Then we knew we were heading to Cyprus. At first the crew told us there was a problem with the plane, and only later we knew it was hijacked,”

As per Egypt time, just after 9 a.m., EgyptAir tweeted the negotiations made with hijacker of releasing all the passengers except four foreigners and crew.
