Intel 6th generation skylake
After announcing new intel 5-th generation “Broadwell” Core chips for mobile and desktop platform, Intel immediately confirm its 6th generation named as Skylake processors are still track of release.
Intel 6th generation skylake ,the second update would we arrive in 2H of 2015 in the form of Skylake-S.It is based on true 14nm architecture but it is a microarchitecture . Intel Core i5-6000 and Core i7-6000 are the part of this. Skylake is compatible with the LGA 1151 socket motherboards which is based on 100-series (Z170 and H170) series Sunrise Point chipset.
Z170 chipset added little features over Z97 chipset like PCI-e lanes, Super Speed USB (up to 10 USB port compared to 6 standard port on current motherboards). The Z170 is performance chipset which will support unlocked K-series Skylake processor ,this chipset feature up-to 20 PCIe Gen 3 lanes, 10 USB 3.0 ports, up-to 3 Intel RST capable PCI-e storage port include x2 SATA Express or M.2 SSD port with Enhanced SPI, 6 SATA Gen 3 port and x4/x8/x16 capable Gen 3 PCI-Express support to processor. The important thing covered by Skylake is that it have both DDR3 and DD4 memory controller so different SKUs unit can be configured.
The first two processors includes Core i7-6700K and Core i5-6600K labeled as 95W processor, these processor are quad-core design with eight threads (multi-threading). The Core i7 feature 8MB cache memeory and Core i5 having 6MB cache memory, these chip support DDR4 2133 MHz memory and 1600 MHz DDR3L memory. Skylake processor , includes OemGL 4.3/4.4 and OpenCL 2.0, HEVC, VP8, VVP9, Turbo Boost 2.0, Hyper Threading, DMI 3.0, AMC’s and supports latest DirectX 12 API.
