In this month Sony finally enters into SSD (Solid State Drives) world with its first two new model. These two new model features of 240GB (SLW-MG2) and 480GB (SLW-MG4). The Sony SLW-MG2/4 use SATA-6Gbps interface, According to Sony the SLW-M mode features up-to 560MB/s sequential reading speed and 530 MB/s sequential writing speed. On other hand Samsung adope some SSD space market with its 850 EVO and 850 PRO model using 3D vertical NAND or V-NAND flash memory for high performance and ultra-high endurance.
Sony SLM-M SSD model uses Toshiba’s TLC flash memory with Phison PS3110-S10 controller.Sony SSD SLM-M is an internal drive and support latest SATA 3 (6Gbps) standard. It is similar to most SDDs in market 7mm thick form-factor and square device that’s 2.5-inch diagonally. The Sony SSD SLM-M2/4 model is look exactly same as other SSD model in the market.
Sony SSD SLM-M use 128 MB DDR3 buffer memory, with TLC NAND indicates Sony SML-M is entry-level SSD solution.
HDD vs SSD with 3 Factors
Speed:
SSD is faster then HDD, it just take a second to boot, faster loading files, launches apps faster and has faster overall performance. According to benchmark sore SSD make plus point with its much higher score and less transfer time as compare to HDDs.
Fragmentation:
HDD take advantage when we work with larger files, due to their rotary recording surface in contiguous blocks. In SSD the data are stored on its chip, there in no rotary recording surface. Thus, SSD are inherently faster than HDD.
Durability:
SSD are more durable than HDD because there is no moving parts, so your data are much secure even you drop it and much more life than HDD.
