Samsung Launches New 2TB variant SSD 850 EVO and 850 PRO
In the world of SSD, Samsung has always been an early adopter in the SSD space. Samsung makes its first SSD in market that uses the 3D vertical NAND or V-NAND flash memory for high performance and ultra-high endurance. Samsung makes its new 2TB SSD which is most expensive among standard SSDs, it costs $98 for 128GB, $152 for 256GB, $255 for 512GB, $489 for 1TB and $1000 for 2TB.
Samsung SSD 850 PRO is an internal drive and support latest SATA 3 (6Gbps) standard. It similar to most SDDs in market 7mm thick and square device that’s 2.5-inch diagonally. The 850 Pro model is look exactly same as its previous 840 Pro model. Traditionally NAND and other semiconductors are scaled horizontally on X and Y axes but due to laws of physics , there is a limit of how small the transistor can be made. For this 3D NAND introduced a Z- axis (vertical ). The 3D NAND follows stack layers architecture which is layer of transistor on top of each other. In Samsung SSD drives , cells are stacked up to 32 layers. This allows to more memory cells, which increases its density.
Benefits V-NAND over 2d Planner NAND
- More Capacity
- More Speed
- More Endurance
- More Power Efficient
The 2TB 850 EVO has same 128Gbit TLC V-NAND 32-layers the smaller capacity 850 EVO products, but in 850 PRO use new 32-layer 128Gbit 40nm MLC V-NAND die.
