If you ever watch Matrix, you must remember a concept : Machines uses human brains as Food for energyBrains are more powerful than computers, even the biggest, fastest supercomputers in the world cannot match the overall processing power of the brain. And they are nowhere near as compact or energy-efficient. Even in computer we try to copy the biological algorithms such as Genetic Algo , Neural Algo etc but still we are not able to reach the where human brain stands.

Scientists from Duke University have successfully developed the first instance of a Brain-machine interface that employs multiple brains at once to operate a single machine or one can say Organic Computers – Made from Brains of Rats and Monkeys .

Building an organic computing device with multiple interconnected brains

Scientists were able to exchange information through direct brain to brain interface. Now you can imagine that how our Lords communicate with each other through meditation. How Lord Shiv just close his eyes and just communicate with Lord Ram, off-course no doubt we can’t compare humans with God . I am just compare technologies.
Scientists were able to interconnect the brains of four rats to create a “Brainet” that is capable of accomplishing computational tasks better than the tasks performed by any one of the rats.

In the recent paper published in the journal Scientific Reports, the neurologist leading the research, Miguel Nicolelis says:

“Recently, we proposed that Brainets, i.e. networks formed by multiple animal brains, cooperating and exchanging information in real time through direct brain-to-brain interfaces, could provide the core of a new type of computing device: an organic computer– Made from Brains of Rats and Monkeys.”

How Brainet works?

Cortical neuronal activity was recorded and analyzed in real time, and then delivered to the somatosensory cortices of other animals that participated in the Brainet using intracortical microstimulation (ICMS). Now by using this approach, different Brainet architecture can be used to solve different problems such as discrete calculations , image processing and weather forecasting.
They uses 12 rats in 6 sessions for fast experiment in which Rats were trained for a task that require them to synchronize their neural activity after an ICMS stimulus.
